Your Traveling Circuit Workout

If you often find yourself on the road traveling, one thing that can be very difficult is figuring out how to sustain your fitness level.  Chances are you’re ending up in hotel gyms that really aren’t exactly what you’d call ‘ideal’ and you’re faced with very little equipment to get the workout in.

When this is the case, it’s important to have a back-up game plan in order.  In some situations you may not even have a hotel gym, so then you have to be extra creative with what you can in your room.

Fortunately, if you come prepared, it’s perfectly possible to create a traveling circuit workout that will help burn off calories, enhance your metabolic rate, and while you may not gain huge amounts of strength or muscle, it can definitely help you sustain what you have.

Let’s look at how to form together your traveling circuit workout.

Know Your Best Exercise Bets

The very first thing that you should do to help you see success is make sure that you know which exercises are going to be best to perform.  Ideally you want to go for full body movements coupled with an isolation exercise to bring up a higher level of fatigue and really put your body to the test.

By pairing these two moves together in a superset, you’ll be doing something different from your standard training protocol (as most people don’t use this back at their home gym where they’re focused on heavy weight sets) and therefore create change in the overall workout set-up.

In order to prevent a training plateau you have to be constantly exposing your body to something new and different and this will do that perfectly.

Bring A Resistance Band

The second thing that you must do is make sure to bring a resistance band.  This is going to be ideal for performing those isolation exercises just mentioned so when coupled with bodyweight movements for your compound exercises, you’ll have the perfect exercise combination.

Resistance bands can easily fit into your suitcase and can be used right inside your own hotel room.

Keep The Circuit Moving

Finally, make sure that you keep the circuit moving along quickly.  Taking breaks is what you want to avoid during this hotel workout as the fast paced nature of it is what will keep the intensity up higher.

You’re aiming for a slightly higher rep range than what you’re likely used to as well, so that coupled with the short rest breaks will really provide you with a high metabolic boost.

Your Traveling Circuit Workout

So now that you know the theory of the workout program, let’s show you your hotel workout circuit.

Perform each exercise coupling, one right after another taking as little rest in between as possible and aiming to complete as many reps as you can in a one minute time frame for each movement.  Once the circuit is complete, perform it one more time through for a 25 minute workout.

Bodyweight Squats
Step-Ups

Push-Ups
Resistance Band Bicep Curls

Jump Lunges
Mountain Climbers

Resistance Band Shoulder Press
Resistance Band Lateral Raise

Resistance Band Rows
Resistance Band Tricep Extensions

Lying Leg Raises
Plank

So next time you’re stuck in a hotel, don’t let your fitness level take a hit.  Use this workout program so that you can maintain your body when on the road.
